Belligerent Rejectamenta

Over it, and slightly bemused.

Is this thing on?

As the days stretched to weeks and the weeks to months between updates (not that I was ever what could have been mistaken for “prolific”), the weight of this site sitting fallow hung around my neck like the proverbial albatross. In part, the problem stems from overanalysis on my part. I keep waiting to “have something to say,” which, frankly, is not likely to happen very bloody often, and it’s my site anyway, so hell with it. You get drivel if it’s what is on my mind, fiction if I can conjure it, and miscellaneous rants and raves in between. Otherwise this place is a waste of electrons and should be scrapped.

So, to wit, I aim to post here at least weekly. A good bit of it is likely to be tedious shit that bores all four of you silly, but at least I’m not wasting space and am getting the occasional excuse to practice stringing a few words together. Honestly, most of the web bores me silly at this point, and I’m turning back to writing here in a desparate attempt to have something to read that I actually give a shit about. As long as I can safely avoid a descent into LJ-esque emodrama wankery, I’ll feel like I’ve succeeded. If it ever does descend to those depths, any and all within the sound of my electronic voice are invited to put a bullet in me, posthaste.

Up next, game journalism and the current state thereof, just as soon as I can assemble the links I want.

  1. Did you ever finish the main quest in Oblivion? I finished it last week, the ending was actually pretty neat.

Although nothing truly ends, not in that universe. I started up an archer/mage combo I’m calling a Ranger and started over. We’ll see if I actually get anywhere.

  2. I have not yet finished it. I put the game down around the 80-hour mark, and was distracted by other things (namely work, XBLA Texas Hold ‘Em, and a couple of tactical games on the PS2 — X-Com and Disgaea 2). A friend borrowed it from me while I was at Dragoncon, and he’s still got it…I need to reacquire it and tinker with it some more.

Have you picked up any of the expansion stuff? I bought the big dungeon and a couple of the niftier hideouts, but haven’t checked ‘em out yet.
