Belligerent Rejectamenta

Over it, and slightly bemused.

Don’t Let the Front Door Hit You On the Way Out

So months have gone by yet again since I put anything here, and any “resolution” I had to post more frequently was scoffed at as folly by the cosmos. So despite the tradition of resolutions associated with the date, I’ll pass on any sort of well-intended bullshit about posting more.

On to 2007. I can’t recall having ever been so happy to see a year end as I am 2006. From beginning to end, this year has sucked the will to live out of me, and I can’t off the top of my head think of any one of my friends or online acquaintances that would disagree. Illness, car wrecks, funerals, disappointments, job woes, you name it, 2006 had it all. Couple that with a global scenario that has reached such depressing levels of SNAFU that I have essentially stuck my head in the sand and am waiting for either the Apocalypse to blow my ass to hell and gone or for someone to come along and gently inform me that the bad men have stopped and it’s safe to come out again.

So strong was the consensus about 2006’s suckitude, my pal’s New Year’s Eve festivities were unofficially referred to as the “Fuck 2006 Party.” I was eagerly anticipating the shindig, fully prepared to put a stake in ‘06 and move forward with it’s cooling corpse in the alley behind me. Alas, ‘06 had one more trick in its bag, handing me a nasty nasty headcold on Dec 30, with sinus headache and breathing issues that didn’t resolve until, unsurprisingly, this morning. So no party for me. I have full confidence my friends were able to pick up the slack in my absence.

Here’s to 2007, in hopes that you and yours have an excellent and most happy New Year.
